The Company
A FMCG BUSINESS , PRODUCING NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS AND COOKING RELATED CONDIMENTS, WITH TURNOVER OF £ 100 MILLION AND 10,000 STAFF
The Business Problem
The company wanted to implement a number of major change initiatives around the implementation of an integrated manufacturing and finance system. The company needed to achieve a number of manufacturing volumes, which had to be accomodated by the producers and the software. The company was stuggling to implement changing to business procedures which would tie in with the procedures within the new system being implemented. The system was highly flexible and required configuring to achieve the business procedures. The project was experiencing delays and problems, causing frustration and inertia.
The Solution
An Avangarde consultant was appointed as an Interim Project Director, to oversee the software and process issues, taking over from the client's Project Manager. Detailed walkthroughs of the finance and manufacturing procedures highlighted the conflicts between the requirement of the business and the software as well as product changes that were needed. This meant that there had to be major changes to the product, and involved negotiating with the product's vendors development group in the USA and the integration of product fixes and retesting the solution. As a result of this, new products were developed for the company so that the volume throughput could be maintained within the operation of the new system.
The Benefits
As a result of the interventions made by the Consultant, the business was able to increased profitability by 20% in the first year, by being able to control the manufacturing process through optimisation of raw materials, minimising storage and bulk deliver output.
